An Update from the Educational, Historical, and Preservation Committee

 Hi family!

We are still seeking donations for the Dobbin Family Reunion Scholarship. We currently have $574.87, but we are in need of much more, so that we will have a recurring scholarship year after year. Here are some ways you can help…donate money (cash or checks are welcome), consider leaving a donation in your will to continue to support this initiative.

After we raise the desired sustainable amount; we will provide the family with more information on Scholarship application and it’s criteria to receive funding.

What a blessing that our family continues to grow and with God’s help our family will continue to grow for generations. We are in need of updating the Dobbin family book; so we will have a second edition. We would like for every family branch to update their family trees. More information will come in how to submit your information.

Lastly, two years ago we debuted the Living legends video, showcasing our surviving 3rd generation family members. If you haven’t seen it you are missing a treat. They are still available for purchase. Please email LaTonya Hinton at latonya_smith@hotmail.com for more information or to purchase.

5 Days to the 65 Dobbins Family Reunion

Check out the restaurants options in  Lake Junaluska, North Carolina (click here). Family should be prepared for dinner on their own on Friday, July 16, 2021 and lunch on their own on Saturday, July 17, 2021 and Sunday, July 18, 2021.  In addition, remember that any family staying at the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center will need to purchase a meal plan for breakfasts (25.30 per adult and 12.65 per child age 4-11) on Saturday, July 17, 2021 and Sunday, July 18, 2021 for all individuals staying on site at check in.

Reminder about Payments for the 2021 Dobbin Family Reunion

 Dear Family,

Please remember that payment for the 2021 Family Reunion Meal Ticket (adult or child) and membership dues are due by Tuesday, June 1, 2021. Payments can be made:

1.by checks payable to Descendants of Emory and Patsy Dobbin and mailed to Mrs. Lamonica Chambers-Smith at 1405 Foxwood Drive, Garner, NC 27529, Attn: 65th Dobbins’ Family Reunion. In order to keep track of payments, please complete the 2021 Banquet Meal Order Form or include the payment form (see last page of the mailing) in the mailing to 1405 Foxwood Drive, Garner, NC 27529. 

2.as an online payment through the family's "Text to Give" account. Individuals will text the word "Give" to 919-299-1912 and follow the provided prompts to complete their payment. Please note that the transaction for adult tickets, child tickets and family membership dues will need to be completed as individual transactions. Upon completion of the initial transaction, re-text "Give" for the next transaction that you would like to complete. In addition, note that scholarship donations can be made through the "Text to Give" account.

Reminder about Information for the Dobbin Gazette 2021 Edition

 Dear Family,

Please submit any family news using the following Form, 2021 Dobbin Family News for the Dobbin Gazette or by mailing information to 1405 Foxwood Drive Garner, NC 27529 or by email to Paula Smith at paulasmith3138@gmail.com.  The committee would like to have all family news by Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

We are full steam ahead...

The reunion planning committee is proud to announce that we have exceeded the number of reservations needed to meet the contract for having the 2021 Family Reunion at Lake Junuluska Conference and Retreat Center.  If family members are still interested in attending, reservations can be made but it will be based on availability.

A Friendly Reminder about the Reservation Deadline for the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center

We are a little under a week from the reservation deadline of Friday, April 16, 2021 for the Lake Junaluska Retreat and Conference Center (site of the 2021 Dobbins' Family Reunion).  Currently, there are 12 rooms that have been reserved and we are looking to have at least 24 rooms reserved in order to meet the requirements of our contract.  If you have not reserved your room and are planning to stay at the Lake Junaluska Conference and Retreat Center for the 2021 Dobbins' Family Reunion, please do so this week.  Reservations can be made by calling 1-800-222-4930 and identifying yourself as a member of the “DOBBINS’ 65th FAMILY REUNION” to receive the group rate. Remember that the group rate is available three nights prior and three nights post conference dates based on availability. In addition, the committee is asking any family members interested in charter bus travel (round trip) to Lake Junaluska to send an email to dobbinsbus@gmail.com with your full name, physical address, email address and telephone contact information by Friday, April 16, 2021.
